Helicopters rarely land directly at Everest Base Camp because the moving Khumbu glacier makes the ground structurally unstable and blocks the view of Everest's summit. Instead, flights land at Kala Patthar (5,545m), a famous rocky ridge that offers the absolute best, unobstructed view of Mount Everest from base to peak.

Your safety is our absolute priority. To prevent Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), ground time at maximum altitude (Kala Patthar) is strictly capped at 10 to 15 minutes. Additionally, all our helicopters are equipped with supplemental oxygen systems and piloted by experienced high-altitude alpine rescue captain pilots.

For safety and performance at high altitudes, helicopters have strict weight limits. The total weight capacity for the flight to Kala Patthar is 400 kg to 500 kg depending on the weather. If a group of 4 passengers exceeds this limit, we perform a shuttle flight from Pheriche or Syangboche, splitting the group into smaller sets of 2 or 3 passengers to land safely at Kala Patthar.

Himalayan weather can change rapidly. If your flight is delayed or canceled due to poor visibility or unsafe mountain winds, we will automatically reschedule your tour for the following morning at no extra cost or issue a 100% refund (minus minor airport transport fees).

Even in peak seasons, early morning temperatures at 5,000+ meters can drop well below freezing. We highly recommend wearing a down jacket, windproof outer layers, sturdy hiking shoes, a warm beanie, and polarized sunglasses to protect against intense high-altitude snow glare.
